The Gauger House Hosts Their First Art Show
It’s with great pleasure we announce the opening of our first art show this weekend, Saturday, April 8th between the hours of 6 & 9pm,
Sadie May
Blending Rick Griffin-esque psychedelia with the Art Nouveau intricacy of Alphonse Mucha, 27-year-old Sadie May has positioned herself as one of the leading ladies of the next generations of poster art. Starting young as a passionate artist living on the banks of Lake Ontario, at a very early age she proved to those around her where she was headed. By age 13, Sadie had won “Best in Medium” at the Fulton Arts Association awards. She was professionally doing posters by age 17.
After 10 years in the industry, she still seeks out new influences, and attends workshops. Some of these have been held by Amanda Sage, as well as by David and Aloria Weaver. Never satisfied with having just one medium, style, or falling into a rut, time and again Sadie May has proven to be willing to learn, grow, and shift as needed to perfect the art she is commissioned to make. To date, she has made posters for touring acts and events in numerous genres, though she often ends up being the inspired hand behind some of your favorite posters for bluegrass, jam/psychedelic, metal, folk, and punk artists, and acts. Some notable artists she has established a working relationship with are Max Creek, The Hackensaw Boys, Dirty Blanket, Folkfaces, and Jibberjazz’s events.
These days she often uses her trusty iPad Pro, an Apple pencil, and Procreate for her works. Despite the favored digital format, she still continues to produce and sell art pieces done with acrylics, charcoal, fabric, and mixed media.

stephe
Stephe Ferm (they/them) is an emerging Visual Artist and Multi-instrumentalists and a Creative director at Muck Duck Studio. Getting their start in the arts through the Rochester area, Stephe now strives to give back to the community that has supported their personal and artistic growth through the art and community work.
Their art focuses on shining a light on hard to process concepts through the lens of fantasy. Current works reflect on; reclamation of self, connection to spirit and community, the apocalypse, and through it all HOPE! Their fantasy creatures and landscapes let you escape for a little, taking a step back from the busy hectic world we live in. Stephe's music does much of the same, with soothing guitar and vocals that reflect on similar themes in their latest album Mrs. Magpie's Garden of Evil Doers.
Stephe's journey with the Mischtechnik started with teachers, Amanda Sage, Stefan Lucas, and Kevin Campeau as well as the Vision train community in early 2022. Each of these teachers not only offered new techniques in painting but also in spiritual practices that work in tandum to explore new horizons and modes of expression through art. With a bit over a year since the start of their journey with the mischtechnik stephe's style is continuing to evolve and grow taking inspiration not only from their teachers and community but also tapping into expressionism, surrealism, and their own visual language that was started in a consistent sketchbook practice in 2016. With layers of story and mystery yet to be discovered, they are excited to see what the world might throw at us next, and how it will all connect.
